Android Wear - Smartwatches Soon to Hit the Market
Google has just announced the launch of its new range of Android Wear. This new version of the company’s operating system is to be rolled out for smartwatches.
Two of the biggest players in this venture are Motorola with their Moto 360 and LG with its G Watch which will be available in the second quarter of this year.
Similar to Google Now, Android Wear watches also include some amazing new features.
Google states that the smartwatch wearer will be able to obtain "real-time speed, distance and time information on your wrist for your run, cycle or walk." all through Google Maps.
The adoption of Google Now means that the smartwatch user will have a whole range of features conveniently at arm’s length. They will receive automatic reminders; be able to talk to their watch to do searches of all kinds. Voice commands will enable the user to view a video or play a song via their watch.
These Android Wear devices will have the facility to connect with Android phones. Notifications of messages will be easily visible. Flight details with times of departure and QR codes to access your plane will all be made possible with these new devices.
Google says that it is also working with Asus, HTC and Samsung on wearables, so watch this space.
