Dark Mode is coming, Is your app ready?
Start getting your app ready for Dark mode
Do you use dark mode? We use it every day where possible. It’s a mode that changes the UI of the app, software or website you’re using to use a dark background and light text. We find this much easier on our eyes when staring at a monitor all day. It’s already available in Windows and Android, and now iOS 13 is getting it.
iOS – Dark Mode
When Dark Mode is turned on, all apps built with the iOS 13 SDK will run in Dark Mode. If you need more time to make your apps look fantastic in Dark Mode, or if Dark Mode is not suited for your app, you can opt-out.
Android – Dark Theme
Dark theme is available in Android 10 (API level 29) and higher. Dark theme applies to both the Android system UI and apps running on the device. You need to optimise your apps for Dark Theme
It’s best to start preparing your dark designs and optimise your apps for these new dark modes. At some point in the future, Apple will make iOS 13 and Dark Mode Support a requirement that you won’t be able to opt-out of, so why panic when that happens? Update your app now and let your users take advantage of the benefits that dark mode brings.
