5G is the fifth generation of mobile technology that allows for more bandwidth in the communication layer. 5G uses millimetre wave technology, which refers to the wavelength spectrum used from 1mm to 10mm. Such a small wavelength data can be transferred quickly, which means there is very little latency or delay between messages.
5G will help spur the growth of IoT technologies as those devices will need almost near real-time communication depending on their purpose. Autonomous cars are an example of this.
These days, most people use 5G through their mobile phones, allowing them to reach faster download speeds of 100-200 Mbps per second.
